For the past nine years, I have had the privilege of working as an Activities Coordinator and Team Leader in a wonderful nursing home right here in Dublin. Wanting to bring even more engaging experiences to nursing home residents, I began creating my own games.
Long before these apps made their way onto the big screen, they began as handmade physical activities. My word game, for instance, started as a paper-and-card version that I created independently at home years ago and used successfully in practice.
It was just two years ago, I decided to digitise these activities into a personal app to streamline my own planning. It completely transformed my routine: instead of spending valuable time organising printed materials, I could focus entirely on connecting with the residents. Realising how much more convenient this approach was, I wanted to share these tools with other activities teams and their residents.
I also designed a new Bingo app out of a specific need. While many online bingo apps exist, none quite hit the mark for a care setting. I wanted something ad-free, featuring an extra-large display for called numbers, and a layout that allows everyone to see all previously called numbers on a single screen.
