Welcome to Senior Active Minds

We know how much heart, energy, and patience goes into running a nursing home activities program. For this reason, we created these interactive games, designed from the ground up from frontline care experience to ensure they bring joy to residents and truly support busy activities teams.

Designed specifically for older adults and nursing home residents, our growing collection of interactive apps—featuring art appreciation, relaxation, word games, and brain teasers—is built to enrich daily life. These activities actively promote cognitive well-being, help residents stay mentally sharp, and encourage meaningful social interaction. Whether you are hosting a lively group activity on the big screen or sharing a meaningful one-to-one moment on a tablet, these tools offer an engaging, accessible way to support daily brain health and keep residents connected.

Our platform requires an online connection and a laptop or mini PC hooked up to the TV. Tablets can also be used for “1 to 1” activities or for group activities by using the Screen-Cast function.

For one simple subscription, you get our complete launch bundle of 11 easy-to-use apps, with more on the way:

Our Initial App Bundle

Bingo: Designed to make a coordinator’s life easier. One press generates a random, extra-large number for everyone to see. Called numbers stay neat and organized in rows, with the last two highlighted in yellow to instantly settle the eternal question: “What was the last number? “ We also include the optional “Bingo callouts”. We have an option to choose the amount of numbers you would like to play with (up to 100). Numbers can be read aloud by an implemented voice.

Word Game: • Working in a nursing home setting, it became apparent that word games are hands down the most popular games amongst residents. Pick a category, and a mystery word appears displayed under the Category, and the number of letters missing (e.g., Food, 5 letters). Residents guess the letters, and the coordinator types the letters in to instantly reveal correct letters or mark misses. Residents can try to guess what the secret word is and if successful, the coordinator may keep a score of points for each resident. There are more than 1400 words divided into 14 categories.

Art gallery: This app has two modes; Relaxation and Art Appreciation. In Relaxation mode a slideshow of random paintings is displayed and relaxing music is played in the background. In Art Appreciation mode the staff can display an art piece at random or choose one from the extensive library provided. Information about the painter and the art piece is displayed for the staff to read to the residents. Built-in zoom lets everyone take a closer look at the finer details of each painting. At the time of launch, there are over 200 paintings.

Who Am I?: Displays a random celebrity picture and challenges the room to guess who it is. Press H for up to five built-in hints, then reveal the name and interesting facts about each person. This app features a custom card builder for you to add your own people.

Antonyms: A simple, lively opposite-word game. A large word appears on screen (like Awake), and residents call out the opposite (Asleep). It invites instant participation from everyone in the room. There are over 200 antonyms.

Proverbs: Displays the first half of a classic saying—like Every cloud has a…—for residents to finish with …silver lining. We include over 200 famous proverbs complete with explanations. However, nothing is set in stone: asking residents what a proverb means often sparks the best, most heart-warming group discussions. There are over 200 proverbs included.

Anagrams: Another engaging word puzzle where a category is chosen and a scrambled word appears. Coordinators can place letters into their correct positions one by one with a single key press, giving the room plenty of time to think, guess, and work together. There are over 1400 words divided into 14 categories.

Word Pairs: Some words and phrases just go together. Get the residents to finish a famous line or word pairs, like Romeo and … Juliet. There are over 220 word pairs in the app.

Short Stories: Bring captivating real-life accounts and documented historical mysteries to your care community with a library of true, fact-filled short stories designed for residents. This intuitive app helps staff easily spark engagement and fond memories during group reading sessions. The Activities Team can also use the built-in creation tool to write and add their own stories tailored specifically to residents’ interests.

Peek a Pic: An interactive guessing game designed for nursing home residents. A hidden picture is broken up into a grid of flip tiles, and players try to guess what it is as tiles are gradually revealed one by one. The fewer tiles opened, the higher the reward—awarding 3 points early on, down to 1 point as more of the image is shown. It’s a fun, engaging way to test observation skills with any group, featuring adjustable grid sizes (5×5, 7×7, and 10×10) and an optional Black & White mode for an even greater challenge.

Similes: Similes are phrases that compare one thing to another using words like “as” or “like”, for example: Busy as a … bee. At the press of a button, a random simile starts (like “As busy as…”), prompting residents to finish the phrase with a second click. 100 similes are included in the app.

Future updates and new apps will continually expand and enhance the package.
